Raise your Union Jacks and don the red, white and blue for the Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s Best of British extravaganza!
Australian soprano Lorina Gore joins Nicholas Milton and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra Combined Chorus in a tribute to the final night of the world’s largest classical music festival, held each year in London’s Royal Albert Hall. From Canteloube’s Songs of the Auvergne to Elgar’s festive Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 this will be a feast of fun and fine music.
Hear William Walton’s coronation march for Edward VII, Crown Imperial (played more recently at Prince William’s wedding to Catherine Middleton in 2011), Hubert Parry’s patriotic hymn Jerusalem and Thomas Arne’s Rule Britannia, as well as favourites like Eric Coates’ boisterous Dambusters March and Vaughan Williams’ gorgeous Fantasia on Greensleeves.
There will be plenty of opportunities to join in the celebrations, so wave your flags and sing along!
