A musical odyssey across daring harmonies, restless beauty and exotic landscapes, with Spain's leading pianist, Javier Perianes.

For this tour, Perianes brings the first part of an ambitious five-year solo recording and performance project with Schubert at its centre. Schubert's monumental Wanderer Fantasy is the spiritual heart of these performances, performed with the profound and elusive late Klavierstücke.

In dialogue with Schubert, two masterpieces of musical evocation and imagination. Debussy's Préludes conjure vivid scenes and fleeting impressions, while Albéniz invokes colourful memories of Spain in his legendary final work, Iberia. And at the crossroads of the journey, Australian composer Elizabeth Younan, inspired by the music of 19th-century Vienna, writes for a Spanish pianist, weaving together the there and here and now and then.

‘His demeanour and technique … radiate calm, yet the precision and speed of his fingerwork can be quite shattering. Seldom, if ever, have I encountered such a combination of evident modesty and utter brilliance.’ — Sunday Times
